Guitar Mania Cats Under the Stars 1978
Details: From the Guitar Mania collection. Cats Under the Stars 1978. Each guitar figurine comes with its own sticker decorated guitar case and stand. Made of resin. Measures 10'' tall. Artist: Stanley Mouse In 1978, when Jerry Garcia began recording his fourth solo album, he called on his longtime friend Stanley Mouse to paint the album cover. This album was in many ways Jerry's first; less influenced by the Grateful Dead and more truly The Jerry Garcia Band. Keenly aware of this distinction, Stanley created this iconic art piece ''Cats Under the Stars.'' Guitar Mania, a public art project in Cleveland, featured 10 foot high decorated fiberglass replicas of Fender Stratocaster guitars, designed and painted by celebrities and artists. The project was a collaboration between the United Way and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. After the exhibition, the guitars were auctioned off, with proceeds benefiting these charities. |
